Our Wellness Classes;

AfroWellness Center is proud to host a number of wellness classes & programs on various health & fitness topics or concepts related to our health & wellness programs throughout the year. Attending our classes, seminars, clubs & workshops is a great way to dive deeper into understanding your body’s physiology & biochemistry.

The natural atmosphere, fun interaction with our wellness practitioners and your fellow students are invaluable resources to team up and overcome most of the health challenges that you face. It is also a fun way to connect with our AHC community across the globe, and get to know other students around you.

About Our Classes;

Our classes are designed in a way that encourages you to understand yourself & really listen to your body plus taking you through various wellness programs comfortably while growing mentally and physiologically. Our Well-Being Center also offers specialized fitness training & classes and holistic nutrition diet to the general public which are available for a nominal membership or monthly or annual fee.

Our hope is that when you step into one of our many classes, you honor yourself in that present moment. You take the time to tune into your body, be present and experience all the healing benefits that our wellness programs have to offer.

Understanding the health & fitness needs of our community is the goal of our Community based wellness programs conducted in collaboration with a team of dedicated natural healers & wellness practitioners.

Our Wellness Class Categories;

1. Specialized Muscle Fitness Class;

Physical activity is important for your muscle health at any stage of life, and this class is ideal for individuals who can’t get around as well as they used to or those who are returning to exercise for the first time.

Muscle Fitness is also an ideal class for individuals with Parkinson’s disease, Diabetes, cardio vascular disease and blood pressure victims, obese & overweight individuals. It’s a great mixture of cardio vascular endurance and muscle strength training taught in our studio.

These low impact muscle exercises focus on maintaining actives of daily living. The class is conducted in a gentle easy to follow safe manner. It will improve strength, increase range of motion, balance and mobility of all targeted body muscles. It will improve one’s overall quality of rest time, life and well-being. Please wear comfortable clothing, good sport sneakers and a bottle of water.

2. Full Body Muscle Class;

The human body has over 8 groups of muscles known yet that aid in its dynamic & active movements, these muscles are; Shoulders, Arms, Chest, Abs, Back, Buttocks, Hips, Legs & not forgetting the Heart muscles. keeping these muscle cells all nourished and toxic free is our priority in this class.

This full body workout is designed to strengthen all major & minor muscles groups, improve cardiovascular endurance and increase flexibility. The wellness expert or practitioner instructor will incorporating a wide variety of rhythmic resistance exercises and breathing techniques. The last 10-15 minutes will be spent, strengthening the core muscles and stretching. So bring your mat and water bottle. This is a fun and energy reviving class. Modifications are given for all fitness level. Please wear exercise clothing and sport shoes.

3. Interval Fitness Class;

Interval fitness training is one of the best ways to increase ones overall endurance & flexibility. This high/low interval fitness class is perfect for anyone who is looking for a challenging workout without having to spend hours at the gym. This class will move through cardiovascular endurance and strength to breathing training, followed by 10-15 minutes of stretching out the entire body. Modifications are given for all exercises by our professional wellness trainers so you may work with in your own boundaries and limitations.

Healthy living is Core, so there is no better class. This class focuses on improving balance, flexibility, stability, posture, and gently strengthening the abdominal region and lower back. It is great for any size and fitness levels. Please wear exercise clothing and sneakers, also bring along a mat and bottle of water. Be prepared to get on the floor & come with a positive mind set.

4. Yoga & Meditation Class;

Both Yoga & Meditation bring the mind, body and spirit/ energy into unison, this can only become a conscious action with continuous practice of the right techniques as taught by our experienced experts.

This class is designed for beginners and experienced participants. Giving them the ability to create a practice within their personal boundaries. Becoming aware of ones inner-self, breathing patterns & energy to gracefully move throughout restorative and energetic vibrational levels is our priority in this class. It starts with the basic understanding of how the human mind operates in different energy levels, offering instructions to flow into more challenging energy dimensions and giving one the opportunity to grow within their chosen practice.

This class will help you to build clarity of who you’re, become consciously present in your body strength, flexibility and proper alignment. Yoga & meditation is a special journey of self discovery, self awareness, mindfulness and personal growth. The class will end with 10-15 min of meditation giving you the opportunity to peel away layer of stress and bring your awareness to your inner peace. Opening yourself to both self & eternal love and light. Please wear comfortable clothing and bring a mat plus a bottle of water.

5. Gymnastic Fitness Class;

In this class, we dive into our body symmetrical dimensions. Gymnastics provides the necessary physical activity to promote body balance, coordination and flexibility, the body must bend and twist in multiple directions and remain balanced to complete the routine.

The human body is designed to move in all directions with balance & minimum striving. The exercises develop or display physical agility and coordination of all body muscles to stretch & relax freely. This class involves exercises on uneven bars, balance beam, floor, horizontal and parallel bars, rings, and karate training.

This class is a moderate intensity interval training with moderate intensity exercises and body muscle movements. This training helps build cardiovascular fitness while improving muscular strength, balance and endurance. This class is to help people challenge themselves and walk out feeling strong, fit & confident.

6. Strength & Tone Class;

Strength and tone is a muscle building and conditioning class focusing on multiple repetitions of heavy or light weight exercise equipment, this class also focuses on all major & minor muscle groups. This is a 45 minutes class using a variety of fitness equipment, resistance bands and weights. It’s designed to improve and increase cardiovascular endurance along with developing coordination and balance of all body muscles.

It is essential for healthy living but also fun and challenging so as to build focus. The wellness instructor will demonstrate each exercise at an appropriate pace with modifications for all fitness levels. This is a great opportunity to get the best out of typical workout routines. Please wear exercise clothing and sneakers, also bring along a mat and bottle of water.

7. Heath & Fitness Class;

The Health & Fitness program combines both diet and exercise, this is done well knowing that health does not equal to health, there are so many people who are fit but not healthy at all, and vise versa is true. It’s our culture to embrace and espouse the law of nature, our original diet as animals is a raw diet.

This class helps you learn about the original diet of animals, how to return to this raw food diet, and how to remain fit on that specific diet. Please come prepare to try out some new raw diet foods and smoothies. Wear exercise clothing and sneakers, also bring along a mat and bottle of water.

    The AHC team of personal trainers get asked a lot of questions on diet, exercise and general fitness, with some more often asked than others. So to help our clients get on the right path to better workouts and lasting progress, here are some answers to the most common questions related to health and fitness.

    Anyone aiming to increase their general health and fitness, should do a varied set of wellness programs of weight and cardio training. When planning your AHC holistic sessions, there are 3 areas you should consider:

    • Your training experience – If you’re a relative newcomer to have limited experience in weight training you may decide to prioritize exercises with weights before your cardio. Getting your weight training in early each session will ensure that you’re attacking the weights in a fresh state, weights after cardio can lead to technical errors due to fatigue or a lack of concentration.
    • Your goals – If you’re training primarily to gain strength and muscle, it’s advisable to perform the exercises that are likely to yield this type of training effect earlier each session. You’ll get the most out of these exercises at this point as you’ll be able to commit to each set without feeling too tired. In the same way, a trainee who really wants to improve their 10km run time might do best with some treadmill work before hitting their weights routine. For fat loss, the general consensus is that weight training should be prioritized over cardiovascular work across the board, but this is perhaps a rabbit hole that should be investigated in a whole other post!
    • Your preferences – Possibly the biggest factor that dictates whether an individual is successful in reaching their health and fitness goals is adherence. Essentially, most programmes work – as long as you stick to them. If you dread the sessions you’ve planned, you’re more likely to talk yourself out of going. And we all know that once we’re actually at the fitness center or gym with a bit of a sweat going, we can usually talk ourselves into doing a little bit of anything.

    We assess our clients regularly. Our clients who have followed our complete weekly plan and journaled their healthy nutrition plans have consistently seen positive results, including remarkable improvements in strength and endurance during this period. Like most things in life, the more YOU put into it, the more YOU will get out of it.

    Typically we have seen 5lbs lost in as little as a month….

    There are no “typical” clients – everyone’s program is unique to their goals, their time commitment, and their budget. Some of our clients train 2-4 times per week.

    4 times per week for best results.

    The scales are an incredibly useful tool in helping to paint a broad picture of body composition. However, we would never recommend solely using the scales as they will only ever tell you part of the whole story.

    As we exercise we’re likely to see a reduction in body fat and an increase in muscle mass. Muscle is denser than fat and therefore takes up less space on your skeletal structure & symmetry. This change in ratio is not accounted for by most generic scales, so if the scales aren’t moving but you’re looking slimmer, I’d recommend confirming these positive results by looking at your performance in the fitness class or at the work out programme.
